Mrs B’s is a modern and extremely busy salon in the vibrant heart of Headingley in Leeds. Our Academy is based in the same building as our salon so students will get to experience the exciting day to day atmosphere of a state-of-the-art dog grooming salon. Our grooming staff are super friendly and will be on hand to give advice or demonstrate dog grooming techniques if asked. Our Academy staff are highly qualified and very experienced professionals who love dog grooming and love teaching. Our Academy has just undergone an extensive refurbishment and boasts the latest grooming and audiovisual equipment. Whilst we encourage students to attend classes in person, live remote learning is also available if required. We have a maximum of four students per class and car parking is available at a small cost.

Many students have some experience of working in a salon and may have a level 2 qualification. This is not prerequisite however, and the course is suitable for students who are at least 16 years old with little or no dog grooming experience. The course is very practical and hands on, so students must be comfortable working closely with all breeds and sizes of dogs.

The course runs for 30 days, Monday to Friday, and typical hours are 9:00 to 4:30. While we encourage students to attend in person as often as possible, some students choose to spend some of the 30 days as home study days. Most days are a combination of theory and practical training. Practical training is done with real dogs, and we encourage students to be hands on. Students will groom at least 20 dogs including a minimum of 10 different breeds, covering at least 6 different coat types. Skills such as prepping, bathing, scissoring, clipping, styling, and nail trimming will be covered. Uniquely, students are continually assessed via practical demonstration and coursework. There is no requirement to sit a formal exam in order to achieve the qualification. This holistic approach has been welcomed by students.

iPET Network is an Awarding Organisation regulated by Ofqual, CCEA Regulation and Qualifications Wales. It is a sector specific Awarding Organisation and is constantly developing NEW qualifications dog grooming. The qualifications come with a robust quality assurance process but more importantly, the criteria is set by dog grooming industry experts who know exactly what students need to learn but also what appeals to them as consumers. Simply put iPET is upping the standard and introducing qualifications that really work in the dog grooming industry. 

The iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management is designed to be flexible to meet the real life needs and circumstances of its students. It is aimed at students who wish to gain the skills and knowledge to prepare, style and finish a range of dog breeds, understand health and safety in a dog grooming salon, understand business management and gain skills in canine emergency first aid. Leading industry experts have reviewed this qualification to ensure the outcome is appropriate for the dog grooming industry and the continued growth and development of the sector. The qualification is an excellent balance of theoretical and practical learning ensuring that vocational skills lead the qualification while being fully supported by underpinning knowledge throughout.

The course costs £5000 including VAT. We require a £1000 deposit to secure a place with the balance being due 4 weeks before the start date.
