The qualification is designed for Candidates who wish to gain the skills and knowledge to prepare, style and finish a selections of dog breeds, understand health and safety in a dog grooming salon and gain an understanding of heath checking, handling and canine behaviour. The course is delivered over a minimum of 15 days practical training with 2 days theory work, there will be additional theory to be completed at home.

iPET Network are proud to have developed this NEW qualification in the canine and feline sector. Candidates will groom at least 10 dogs to include a minimum of 5 different breeds, covering 4 different coat types. There are no pre-requisites to starting the qualification, meaning candidates can join at level 3 without having completed a lower level (level 2) course first.

Candidates will be trained in practical skills such as prepping, bathing, scissoring, clipping, styling and nail trimming on a selection of dog breeds.

Uniquely, candidates are continually assessed via practical demonstration and coursework. There is no requirement to sit an formal exam in order to achieve the qualification. This holistic approach has been welcomed by candidates to our Training Provider from across the UK, Ireland and Internationally. iPET Network designed the qualification to have an excellent balance of theoretical and practical learning. Feedback suggests that this qualification takes the pressure out of adult learning and this approach appeals to a wide range of Candidates.

The iPET Network Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming and Introduction to Styling will demonstrate to an employer or the general public that Candidates understand the core principles of Dog Grooming and have been introduced to styling techniques. Candidates will leave with a foundation of knowledge base to continue learning or working in the Dog Grooming Industry.

It has been designed specifically for those looking to start the journey in Dog Grooming or those who already groom dogs (as a hobby) but would like to gain a nationally recognised qualification.

The units and evidence completed as part of the iPET Network Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming and Introduction to Styling can be recognised as prior learning should a Candidate want to progress and complete the iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management qualification. The Candidate would need to complete an additional minimum 15 days and complete the following additional units.

Mrs B’s is a modern and extremely busy salon in the vibrant heart of Headingley in Leeds. Our Academy is based in the same building as our salon so students will get to experience the exciting day to day atmosphere of a state-of-the-art dog grooming salon. Our grooming staff are super friendly and will be on hand to give advice or demonstrate dog grooming techniques if asked. Our Academy staff are highly qualified and very experienced professionals who love dog grooming and love teaching. Our Academy has just undergone an extensive refurbishment and boasts the latest grooming and audiovisual equipment. Whilst we encourage students to attend classes in person, live remote learning is also available if required. We have a maximum of four students per class and car parking is available at a small cost.

What can I expect during the course?

The course runs for 15 days, Monday to Friday, and typical hours are 9:00 to 4:30. While we encourage students to attend in person as often as possible, some students choose to spend some of the 15 days as home study days. Most days are a combination of theory and practical training. Practical training is done with real dogs, and we encourage students to be hands on. Students will groom at least 10 dogs to include a minimum of 5 different breeds, covering 4 different coat types. Skills such as prepping, bathing, scissoring, clipping, styling, and nail trimming will be covered. Uniquely, students are continually assessed via practical demonstration and coursework. There is no requirement to sit a formal exam in order to achieve the qualification. This holistic approach has been welcomed by students.

The course costs £2990 including VAT. We require a £600 deposit to secure a place with the balance being due 4 weeks before the start date.
